I have worked with countless writers for twenty years, focusing on content development of expository and narrative nonfiction writing. I can help you to strengthen your literary, narrative nonfiction manuscript, whether it is essay or book length. My assessment will broadly critique your overall effort; I’ll point to the work’s areas of strength, note specific and general problems, and make suggestions for improvement. I do not attend to copy or line editing; instead, I will work with you on the structure, style and content. Writers benefit from my help finding or clarifying a focus, in creating a useful and organic structure and in determining a clear purpose.
General Approach
Upon receiving some preliminary information and samples of your writing (a chapter or an entire essay draft), I will determine whether I can help with the manuscript. Then I will provide an editorial assessment that outlines the strengths and challenges in the writing. This assessment will outline points we can discuss in person or by telephone.
